what we've been up to: the good, the blog, and the uppity
case sale & open house: plus other upcoming events
new releases: although this does kind of depend on your definition of "new"
new places to find eleven: onward and upward!

Harvest is over and the holidays are upon us! It's been quite a roller coaster of a year. In case you thought you had fallen off the mailing list, no, I just, um, haven't written a newsletter in a long time . Now that the boys are in school and Harvest is over, I promise to keep you updated somewhat more regularly.

The tasting room has been busy all year, and it's been a blast meeting people from all over the country and from other countries as well. Our late, cool spring delayed harvest by a week or two, but the cooler conditions will make for some really well-balanced and complex wines. Not everybody in Washington got their grapes all the way ripe, but we were fortunate.

If you're looking for wine for Thanksgiving, I recommend the Syrah, Sweet Sarah and Primavera with dinner, and the Pinot Gris Port with your pumpkin pie. Place your order by Sunday for delivery by Wednesday on most of the west coast (allow an extra day if you're east of Washington State or south of the SF Bay area).

We're always looking for new pairings, so if you have a favorite recipe that you like to pair with one of our wines, send it to us and we'll send you a voucher for 5% off your next order.

WHAT WE'VE BEEN UP TO
Besides turning lead into gold

- We've gone carbon neutral: this is just the first step in what is to be a campaign of Good. We don't just want to make great wine fun - we are going to use your enthusiasm to make the world a better place. More on this in upcoming newsletters.
- We've launched a blog: http://elevenwinery.blogspot.com. Check it out for some fun stories about Harvest!
- We've gotten noticed by the press: Wine Press Northwest rated our 2006 Sauv Blanc and 2005 Malbec "Excellent". They also liked our Pinot Gris. These wines are largely sold out (T&C on Bainbridge still has a few bottles of each) but I think you'll find the new vintages to be even better (ratings yet to come).

CASE SALE AND OPEN HOUSE
It's been a long time and I miss you guys!
I realized recently that since the demise of the North Sound Wineries Association, we haven't done any public tastings at the winery in over a year, and that's just not right. So, on December 5, 6 and 7 (Friday - Sunday) we will be hosting our first semi-annual case sale and open house, from 11 - 4 each day. Come taste our current releases, including the new Syrah Port (to be introduced at the event)! Plus, during this event only, our normal case discount of 15% will be increased to 20% on mixed cases, and 25% on whole cases. This is a great time to pick up wine for the holidays and for gifts. Click here for directions to the winery.

Other upcoming events: - Saturday 11/22: Willem's Table intimate winemaker dinner (new location: the library at Edna's Beach Cafe) - Saturday 12/13: In-store tasting at West Seattle Cellars

NEW RELEASES
We've released quite a few new wines since I last wrote, including (with release dates):
2006 "Typo" Petit Verdot (October): Every bottle hand-corrected and signed by the winemaker!
2006 La Ronde (October): 40% Syrah, 40% Malbec, 20% Petit Verdot: 100% seductive.
2007 Sauvignon Blanc (September): Artz Vineyard does it again, crisp and fruity.
2007 Pinot Gris (August): a hearty winter white, this vintage with cool herbal character to boot.
2006 Malbec (July): a full-bodied blast of black cherry and earth, one of our best sellers.
2005 Syrah (February): smooth dark fruits, a hearty rendition of this noble variety.
