James Coates is a singer-songwriter from Sumner, WA, who connects with audiences through honest original songs and entertains with upbeat, high-energy covers from all genres and decades.

​James inherited his love of music from his father, who taught him piano and guitar at an early age. His first moments on stage were playing bass at a local youth group and singing original songs at all-ages open mic's.

​After releasing his debut album in 2012, he toured nationally, headlining Nashville's Bluebird Cafe and opening for Sheryl Crow at Woodinville's Chateau Ste. Michelle Winery.

​He has received airplay on KEXP, been featured in Seattle Weekly and his latest singles "Buy My Mom a House" and "7-Year-Old Summer" were playlisted internationally.
